Michael Apodaca endorses Jim!

Jim is honored to receive his fellow District 2 candidate, Michael Apodaca's, endorsement: "We share a passion for bringing people together to find solutions for our district and I am grateful for his (and your) support."

Please vote for Jim Tolbert in the runoff! Early voting is June 3-11. Election Day is June 15.

About Jim Tolbert

A native, born and raised in Central El Paso, Jim attended Crockett Elementary and graduated from Austin High School in 1970. He is also a graduate of Texas Tech University and the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. After 36 years away, Jim returned to his hometown in 2006 where he has been very active in his neighborhood community and City of El Paso affairs. In 2007, Jim helped to start the Newman Park Neighborhood Association and has served as a member of that Board (including President) ever since. He began and still writes Hola Vecinos, the Newman Park newsletter and the neighborhood blog.

Jim Tolbert is an avid hiker who loves our Franklin Mountains and the outdoors. He is currently a board member of the West Texas Urban Forestry Council, a past member and Chairman of the City’s Tree Committee, and the Chairman of El Paso’s annual Celebration of Our Mountains. He has served on the board of the Franklin Mountains Wilderness Coalition and the advisory council of the Frontera Land Alliance. He continues to write about environmental and community issues on his blog, elpasonaturally.blogspot.com.

Jim served on the Building and Standards Commission of the City of El Paso. He is now co-chairman of the City’s Open Space and Parks and Recreation Advisory Boards.

He is proud of his work with the Eastside Catholic Community Services, the Friends of Youth Advisory Committee, and the AIDS Advisory Committee while living in Washington State. Jim also helped to found a crisis center for women who are victims of domestic abuse while he was a minister in Pampa, Texas. He received Certificates of Achievement from the Texas Department of Human Resources for his work with this women’s crisis center.
